Tell us about yourself – what are you doing, where are you?
I am a master degree student working full-time in a multinational company in a city I needed to get used to when I first came here 5 years ago and I actually call home now.
What do you love about your job (studies)?
I am part of the Payment team responsible for preparation and execution of all payments for all of the entities of Ingram Micro Mobility within Europe. I love the dynamics and the fact that my job actually has an important impact on the cash flow management of the entities I work for. It is a great responsibility and quite a challenge sometimes, but this is what makes it interesting at the end. It is very satisfying when you manage to provide valuable service.
Walk us through your (work) day.
I like getting up early enough to get ready for work without a rush. I have only one alarm set up for 7 o’clock in the weekdays. I hate oversleeping and the series of alarms – one on every 5 minutes a lot of people like setting up. I leave home between 7:50 and 8 a.m. I never have coffee or breakfast at home, so I usually take something on my way to the office. I finish work at 6 p.m. unless something important comes up and I either get home to study (in the school year) or have a walk to get some rest after the busy day and meet up with friends. In the weekends, especially in the summer, I try not to stay in Sofia, but travel around the country, visit new places, go to my hometown or at the seaside.
What “rules” do you live by?
The rule of being yourself and enjoying the small things in life.
What is the greatest thing about education?
The greatest thing about education is the self-development and the daily challenge to get better than you were yesterday.
Who has inspired you in your life and why?
I have been inspired by my mom. She never gives up no matter what and she always put family first. I have also been inspired by the young, ambitious and talented young girls I have met at GLOW. Back in 2007 when I first took part in GLOW, these girls generally changed my perceptions and attitude. Some of them became and still are role models for me.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about my job. It is very important for me to be a professional in what I do. I always try to dare for more, seek optimization opportunities and improvement in both my personal and my team’s performance. I am passionate about travelling, too. I adore being on a trip with friends in a place we have never been before with just a map and a mood for adventure.
Which experiences in life helped you become the person you are?
Definitely GLOW, my Erasmus experience, and the different training courses that I had the chance to attend abroad.
When things get tough, how do you keep yourself going?
I have a favorite quote by Robin Sharma on this topic. It says “When you most feel like giving up is when you most need to be keeping on.”, so I simply tell myself that hard times cannot be forever. I believe there is always a balance in life and all efforts will be well-rewarded sooner or later.
The things for which we should always find time are…? Why are they important?
Family and friends… Family, because these are the people who support you from your first day on Earth and will do so until the end. A simple quarrel cannot spoil such a relationship and they are the ones who will always wish you the best from the bottom of their hearts. Friends, because we need somebody out of our family circle to share with, trust, laugh out loud together, meet and call anytime for anything.
What kind of books (or which) do you consider must read?
I think every Bulgarian should read the masterpieces of the national literature, e.g. “Pod igoto”, “Tyutyun”, “Jelezniyat svetilnik”. At least these are my favorite ones.
What has GLOW given you?
GLOW has met me with some of my best friends in life. It has given me an open mind to new challenges and motivation to constantly grow and develop, which requires leaving my comfort zone. GLOW has given me the confidence to believe in my own capabilities and strengths to achieve anything I really want.
Tell us something interesting that very few people know about you!
When I was a teenager I dreamt to have a twin sister.
What is your advice for the young people?
Be active! Invest as much as you can in your personal development. Take advantage of all the opportunities that may come up in your way. Don’t be afraid of failure, it’s the perfect time to make mistakes and learn from them.
